“Haven’t played around with it too much” 2010-01-22
By Jeffrey E. Chao
I bought this item as a backup to my 10 year old mp3 player which hasn’t died just yet. Therefore this one has just been sitting in my room – I haven’t really tried it too much but it seems pretty good from my initial quality check. Only reason why it gets 4 stars is that there’s no removable battery that I’m aware of. Which kinda sucks, but hey for the price it’s definitely worth it.

“Great Christmas Present for a Person on the Go” 2010-01-21
By Philip van Lidth
This is a great present for anyone who is always on the go. Good for music, audio books, anything that can be recorded and played back, and usable when walking, driving or just working around the house.

“Great little player especially for the money” 2010-01-21
By grizzled old man (Urbana, Whine Country, Illinos)
This was my first MP3 player, so I am hardly an expert. I am pleased with the performance of this unit. The 8 gig onboard memory is more than adequate for my use. I have put 12 albums on it and it is only 1/4 full. The sound is wonderful with more than adequate volume. I am using noise isolating earbuds instead of the included ones, which I am sure helps in my noisy work enviorment. One may play songs sorted by artist, album and alphabetically by song title. This latter feature makes for some interesting play lists. Apparently, one can rate songs and then sort by rating also. If you don’t like the song, why is it on your machine? (Or is this just my newbie showing?)

One feature is that you can set the time on the player, but I have not yet discovered a true alarm feature. I do a work around by setting the sleep function so the music ends when my shift ends. This takes some attention, because sleep settings are available in only 15 minute chunks up to a maximum of 2 hours. Thus you have to be something of a clock watcher to get the quit time set to you liking. I use it to tell me when my shift has ended. When the music stops, I stop.

The FM radio is a wonder. I work in a metal building with the sky lights recently covered by metal to stop roof leaks. My work area is inside a metal cage, surrounded by electrical and electronic equipment. Some cell phone is available if you stand in the right spot and have the right carrier. I can get 8 to 12 FM stations in there! This unit is worth the price for the radio alone. One thing I noted is that the frequency displayed on the player in one case (but not all) did not match the frequency of the station. 101.7 displayed, actually 101.1

Windows media player loads this puppy up no problem. This device is recognized by my linux computer (Ubuntu 9.10) Does not recognize file types. As with all things linux, there is probably a pound around solution. I just don’t happen to need it.

Yip list– 1. No manual to speak of. Have to get one over the internet. 2. Not sure what species the included earbuds works for. I bought some noise isolating ear buds as part of a package deal, which was a very smart move. 3. True alarm system would be nice.

Additional praise. 1. This unit is so small and light, you can wear it as an ear ring or as a barrett in your hair. 2. Despite the small size, the controls are easy to operate. 3. Battery life. I get through a 10 or 12 hour shift with no problem at all.

As I spend more time with this player, I will probably find more features. You might consider going to the Sandisk web site and looking at the full manual there.

Bottom line– I highly recommend this product, plan on buying some ear buds as well.

“Great portable music player” 2010-01-21
By Judith Chapman (FLORIDA, USA)
I have been an ipod owner for many years now and decided to go with another brand this time. One that was smaller than my 20 GB ipod, more portable and considerably cheaper. I am very happy with the sound quality of my 80 GB Sansa Clip and once I spent some time reviewing the manual, find it easy to set preferences. One point I would like to make is that I wish there was a folder in the MAIN menu for “Audiobooks”. I don’t like having to go to the “Music” folder and then scroll down to find the link to “Audiobooks”. Also, I had a problem with the volume control which would freeze the player if I tried to lower the sound too much. When I adjusted the sound level to “normal” instead of “high”, it no longer freezes. I was very surprised at how small the player is. Perfect for clipping on and listening as I walk. The radio is loud and clear. Great value for the mone.
